Leaving for China !

Wednesday, April 2: Vancouver airport waiting to board our flight to Beijing.

Mid flight to Beijing. Movie options galore on our own personal TV's kept us entertained ! Flight duration approximately 11 hours !

Once arriving in Beijing, we had to make a mad dash across the Beijing airport to catch a shuttle bus to a smaller terminal to connect to our flight to Jinan ! Bodies and bags were flying everywhere as we fought the mobs of locals boarding the shuttle !

Finally, after being awake for 25 hours, we arrive in Jinan ! "Yu", our school administrator from the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, greet us at the airport and had a shuttle waiting for us to take us to our hotel.

We arrive at our hotel called the Yi Pin Xian. We stayed here for our first week in Jinan.

Upon arriving to the hotel, the university had planned a private welcome dinner for us. And though we were exhausted and delirous, we rose to the occasion and participated in "Gan Bai" meaning "cheers" and guzzled our drinks as a gesture of welcoming new friends !
